The work
Career consulting
Courtney has been advising, teaching, and coaching healthcare executives, clinicians, students, and neurodivergent professionals since 2007.
Foundations
Her work starts with the assets: résumés and CVs rebuilt to withstand scrutiny, LinkedIn profiles and portfolios elevated to attract the right attention, and interview preparation that addresses the missteps most candidates never realize they're making. She assesses each client's existing materials for gaps — details big and small — then refines or rebuilds their professional brand voice so it still sounds like them, but is finally heard by the right people and anchored to what actually sets them apart.
Accomplishment Excavation
Most professionals systematically undersell what they've done — not from a lack of achievement, but from a lifetime of being taught that claiming credit is immodesty. Ownership gets softened into participation. Leadership becomes involvement. These reflexive edits are so common that most people never notice making them, and they quietly cost candidates the roles they're most qualified for.Courtney helps clients recover the accomplishments they've minimized, then translate them into the language hiring managers and applicant tracking systems actually reward — precise, quantified, and appropriately credited. Not inflated. Not borrowed. Just finally accurate.
Fit Analysis
What ties the work together is the question underneath it all: which roles genuinely suit this person?Skills, credentials, and experience are the starting point — Courtney takes them seriously, then goes considerably deeper: how a person's brain is wired to think, their temperament, their family dynamics, their long-term priorities, and what they find authentically fulfilling.Clients leave with more than polished career assets. They leave with the confidence and self-knowledge to pursue opportunities — and organizations — that actually fit.
Why Career Consulting?
Courtney became interested in crafting resumes, interview preparation, and career optimization when she is 16 years old. Her father was working at a tech startup at the time, and one of the many hats he wore at the company was reviewing resumes and interviewing potential talent. When Courtney was invited to her first job interview, she actually didn't give the process very much thought. The position she applied for was Sales Clerk at JC Penny. Her friends had all landed summer jobs, and she mistakingly assumed that because she was offered an interview, she had already landed the job. As if by fate though, this first job interview ended up being one of the most challenging interviews of Courtney's life! When the hiring manager invited Courtney into her office, Courtney realized immediately that this woman had zero intention of handing out summer job positions. Every detail about her was professional from her business suite and understated to her makeup to her pearl earrings and palm pilot. The interview started out okay enough, but when the interviewer asked Courtney what she thought she could bring to JC Penny, Courtney froze, and then started stumbling over her words. Her anxiety started to increase as she continued to draw a blank. Finally, Courtney blurted out, "I don't know." The interviewer was clearly irritated-- her frustration was written all over her face, and then she replied sternly, "You don't know?! You filled out an application and showed up to the interview today, don't you want this job...? You need to learn to self yourself girl, this is a job interview!" Courtney would never forget those words or how foolish she felt. She never wanted to feel that way again. From that day on, she treated every detail of job hunting as an artform she was determined to master. Her father became her mentor. They were very much cut from the same cloth-- detail oriented, meticulous, and ambitious, the duo treated each summer job opportunity throughout the rest of Courtney's high school and college years, as if they were each opportunities Courtney had been dreaming about her entire life. By the time Courtney graduated with her BSN and set out to land her first nursing job, relatives, friends, and aquaintences were frequently requesting that she help them with everything from resume building and cover letters to interview wardrobe advice and conducting mock interviews.Throughout the decades that followed her early start, working with young professionals and students, Courtney continued studying career prep and fit, evolving her approach over time and expanding her offerings-- committed to delivering current, quality advice and materials to her clients.
